Sonia Steen earned her BA in Liberal Studies and her Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential in 2020 from the University of San Diego, a designated Changemaker Campus. She is passionate about creating positive social change by reimagining education. Sonia wholeheartedly believes in holistic education – and that fostering emotional intelligence is just as important as academic intelligence. Sonia is certified to teach in California and Texas. She spent her first year of teaching in Oceanside, California with First and Fourth Grades, and then taught Third Grade for AISD before coming to Whole Life Learning Center in 2023 to teach Kindergarten and First Grade. Sonia has also taught in a variety of other settings, including a school for at-risk girls in a rural village in India; a primary school in Oxford, England; and a Juvenile Detention Facility. Sonia is honored to be part of the Whole Life Learning community and to have the opportunity to further her interests in Permaculture and Herbalism. Sonia loves animals, immersing in nature, exploring the local library, creating wholesome plant-based recipes, and being a lifelong learner.
