Rivi Hubbard
Mentor - Jade Class
Rivkah (Rivi) Hubbard was born in San Francisco and, after bouncing around for a portion of her childhood, landed in Austin. She attended college at the University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. After graduating, she studied acting and dance in London and New York City, while also teaching children’s theater workshops and classes.
Rivi returned to Austin and began working as a K-5 Teaching Artist with the Creative Action Project. Through this work, she was able to bring the joys of storytelling and artistic self-expression to Title I schools. She saw firsthand the transformative power of the creative arts and volunteered her time to reading programs and other child-centered non-profits around Austin.
Rivi married and went on to have three children. Her love of teaching led her to homeschool her children, as well as co-run multiple homeschool cooperatives and classes. Eventually, Rivi and her family found a home at Whole Life Learning Center.
This year, Rivi is honored to be the lead mentor for the Jade class (k/1st). She is passionate about holistic education and has witnessed firsthand the shift in engagement when a learner is authentically connecting to their work. She loves filling the classroom with singing, artistry, movement, storytelling and play.
Rivi currently lives in South Austin with her husband Alex and their wonderful children Inez, Hugo, and Leona. She loves spending time outdoors, fiber crafts, theater, making art, traveling, and being in nature.
